Brother Sewing Machines And Brother Embroidery Machines

I was compelled to write this article because I believe we are raising a generation of high-tech kids, not in touch with the traditions of earlier generations. Don't misunderstand me, I am all for advancement of the human race and technology, but I feel that we should try to hold on to some parts of the past as well.

Take sewing for instance. In today's public school systems, home economics has been replaced by web publishing, world cultures and other politically correct termed courses. Call me old fashioned, but I'm of the belief that we as parents are responsible for handing down traditions to our children and sewing is a hobby I would like to see passed on to future generations.

We live in a "throw away" society. Most everything today is not made to last, but to be disposable and replaced. If a shirt gets ripped, we toss it aside and go buy a new one. What happened to sewing up the tear and wearing it?

I guess as an adult, I see things differently that when I was younger. I want to preserve the time-honored tradition of sewing and pass it on to our younger generations.
